Why therapy? 

Therapy has a bit of a bad rep, doesn't it?

'Therapy is only for the broken ones'. 'Therapy is luxury'. 'I don't want to spend money to just sit around and talk. I can do that with my friends'. 

​

None of the above applies to Wake up And Roar private sessions. My PhD research was focused on the question of how we can take psychological empowerment out of the office of coaches and therapists so that self-authority and autonomy can become possible for everyone.  Whether you are outwardly successful and seemingly ‘together’, or a self-proclaimed ‘total mess’, I am here to bring you to a place of greater freedom, inner mastery, joy and success, inside and out.

The statements above are some of the common manifestations of psychological shadows - a focal specialty of my 10+ years of psychology practice. I have worked with hundreds of individuals, couples, and groups to arrive from just knowing how to change to actually seeing and experiencing the desired life.

The sessions and individual programs are designed to enable you to experience and live in states where a choice becomes possible. No longer driven by self-sabotaging impulses, fears, limitations placed on you by someone else, you will learn how to CHOOSE.  Big or small, you will come to being able to have and make choices that reflect what you truly are longing for, not just what’s available or suitable as a compromise.

What happens in sessions 

The beauty of my extensive education and experience is that I am able to offer an effective path to your transformation that suits your experiences and lifestyle. Trained in classical Western approaches (e.g. cognitive behavioral therapy) as well as ancient Eastern practices (e.g. Tantra), I will offer you a transformation program that aligns with you the most. 

 

The first session is typically spent in a light conversation, discovering where you are, with what you are dissatisfied, what you would like to change, what your hopes and desires are. We will talk about your life, dreams, goals and struggles. I will then propose to you an outline of how we can move forward together, should you choose to commit to your transformation with me, or what you can do independently should you choose to go forward alone. Starting from the first session you will already walk out with more clarity, motivation and inspiration that you never experienced before

My objective is to move from just knowing how to change to actually experiencing and seeing the results of the change. This is why I am a proponent of taking therapy outside of the therapist office and using many different tools and techniques that surprise and delight my clients. You will receive assignments, exercises and challenges that are realistic and fun.. 

​

I will analyze your routines and help you keep and track objective data so that you have clear indicators guiding you on your journey. Together we will develop practices, routines and experiences that will bring you to a state of inner mastery, freedom and centeredness. You will receive FREE useful recourses with which you can follow up in your own time, such as inspiring talks, guided meditations, and insightful videos. You will always have clarity, support and endless inspiration as you are building the life that you have always dreamed of.

My approach is holistic, loving, realistic and deeply grounded in science and empirical traditions. In sessions you can expect a combination of different techniques that have been selected especially for you. From guided visualizations to body exercises and art therapy, you will receive tools that will make your insights and transformations tangible. We will work both inside and outside your comfort zones, making you more secure and stronger.

Anything unpleasant that happens with me is the fault of other people or environment. I must protect myself from the people around me. I am better than them and do not need anything or anyone. OR It's pointless to even try. People like me do not succeed. I am content with my little life, this is how it's meant to be.

2.

I am starting to see how my beliefs and my actions contribute to the state of my life. I feel pain and dissatisfaction with in my current life. I want to change but have only a vague idea how to go about it.

3.

I have read, listened and tried a lot in order to improve myself. I understand the theory, understand what I should do. But somehow I keep falling short of making the right choices. Over and over I am seduced by my old fears, impulses; over and over I hide in the familiar, in the comfortable. 

4.

I am frustrated. I see how much I have achieved, how much I have changed. But somehow my dreams are still so far away! I'm still missing something. Sometimes I get tired and forget about my dreams, but sooner or later they find me again and remind that I am more than what I am now. 

5.

I feel pleasure and pride of recognising who I have become, what I have created. I radiate joy and confidence. I feel a sense of untangling, of seeing clearly. Of finally, oh finally, breathing freely. I feel so excited about who I am and about what I am yet to experience and achieve.

Transformation is hard. After 20+ years of thinking, feeling, reacting a certain way, your brain becomes hard-wired keeping you on repeat. And that’s after you managed to see past the inevitable blind spots and individuated, unintegrated unconscious beliefs. Self-growth is never a single realization or even a straight line.
